Roblox DevEx Explained: How to Cash Out Robux

What DevEx actually is

The Developer Exchange — DevEx — is the only official way to turn Robux into money. You submit a request from the Creator Dashboard, Roblox reviews it, and a third-party processor called Tipalti sends the payment to your bank, PayPal or another supported method.

Two things surprise people the first time:

Only earned Robux count. Game passes, developer products, avatar item commissions and group earnings all qualify. Robux you bought with a card or received as a gift never do, however large the balance.
DevEx has no commission. The exchange rate is the entire deal — there is no extra percentage skimmed at cash-out time.

A single balance can hold Robux from more than one tier, which is why a payout estimate and the amount that actually arrives sometimes differ slightly.

Who qualifies

Every one of these has to be true at the moment you submit:

You are 13 or older
You hold at least 30,000 earned Robux
You have an active Roblox Premium subscription
Your email is verified
You have passed ID verification with a government ID matching your payout name
Your tax profile is complete in the Tipalti portal
Your account is in good standing with no active moderation actions

The three that trip creators up most often are the last ones: an expired Premium subscription, ID photos that do not match the payout name, and an unfinished tax form.

How to cash out, step by step

Check your earned Robux balance in the Creator Dashboard — not your total Robux, the earned figure.
Confirm Premium is active and will still be active while the request is reviewed.
Complete ID verification if you have not already. Use a clear photo of an unexpired ID.
Open the DevEx page in the Creator Dashboard and submit the amount you want to exchange.
Fill in the Tipalti registration you receive by email — payment method and tax form. Roblox asks for this within about a week of the link being sent.
Wait for review, then payment.

How long DevEx takes

Later cash-outs are noticeably faster because your Tipalti profile is already set up.

How taxes work on the Developer Exchange

“Tax” means two completely different things in this conversation, and mixing them up is the single most common misunderstanding.

Income tax comes last. DevEx pays you real income. Roblox collects a tax form through Tipalti, but it does not pay your income tax for you. Whatever you owe in your own country is your responsibility — set part of every payout aside.

How much does Roblox take from DevEx?

Nothing at the exchange itself — but the wider gap is real. A player buying the 800 Robux bundle for $9.99 pays about $0.0125 per Robux, while a creator cashes out at $0.0038. Add the 30% fee on the original sale and only a fraction of what a player spends reaches the creator as money. That spread funds hosting, moderation, payment processing and the platform itself.

Common reasons a request is declined

Premium lapsed between submitting and review
ID name does not match the payout account name
Tax form left incomplete past the deadline
Balance includes purchased rather than earned Robux
Moderation action active on the account

A word on “instant Robux cash-out” sites

There is no legitimate alternative to DevEx. Sites offering to convert Robux to money instantly, buy your balance, or bypass the requirements are either scams or a fast route to a banned account.
